THE SACRED ALCHEMY OF THE RAREST BEE CHEMISTRY
REDEFINING LUXURY IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BEES, NATURE AND PEOPLE
Our rare Fynbos essential oils, Fynbos propolis and African oils are formulated by specialists with decades of experience in producing potent natural products. Inspired by traditional healers and modern science, our products are connected to nature, inviting you to enhance your outer and inner beauty.
Sustainability and ethical sourcing are intrinsic to what we do. We only take Propolis and beeswax from the hives once it has proven its effectiveness, and to minimise disruption to the bees. We source our essential oils and carrier oils from local expert harvesters and specialist providers, and insist on only the highest quality. This sourcing ethos is critical to maintaining the potency and effectiveness of our products.
This alignment in values embody folklore’s golden triad of druids, bees and trees, echo’s with the teaching and wisdom of traditional healers in Africa. In reverence for this our dedicated artisans produce our offering in small batches, combining the sacred alchemy of the rarest bee chemistry, with the best and purest oils to produce a product with profound and magical impact.
THE FYNBOS FLORAL KINGDOM, A TRESURE TROVE OF BIODIVERSITY, IN SOUTH AFRCA’S WESTERN CAPE
The Fynbos Floral Kingdom spans South Africa Cape Coast, boasting over 9,000 unique plant species, making it one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.
At Thebos, we are passionate about capturing the essence of the Fynbos in our apitherapy skincare range. Our products are crafted using the finest bee-derived ingredients, ethically sourced from hives nestled in the heart of this remarkable floral kingdom. To us, the Fynbos is more than a source of ingredients—it is a gift of nature, one we are committed to nurturing and preserving for future generations.
The magic of Fynbos isn't just visual; its fragrance is a symphony of flowers, essential oils, and resins, distilled into potent formulas and ointments. Steeped in folklore, the Fynbos is revered by the Khoi and San peoples, whose traditional practices date back centuries, long before the arrival of modern settlers in the region. For the Khoi and San, Fynbos represents a source of spiritual power, a place of healing, and a profound connection to the natural world.
Unique compounds in Fynbos honey and propolis
WE BELIEVE THAT NATURE PRODUCES THE BEST AND MOST ESSENTIAL INGREDIENTS WE NEED TO CARE FOR AND HEAL OUR SKIN
The Cape Capensis Bee thrives in the unique ecosystem of the Fynbos. Known for its ability to collect nectar and pollen from a vast array of Fynbos plant species, it plays a vital role in sustaining the rich biodiversity of the region. Remarkably, unlike other bee species, the Cape Capensis Bee can also forage at night, pollinating plants that bloom after dark—a rare and fascinating adaptation.
The ingredients we use in our offerings are rare, sacred, and available only in limited supply. We work in harmony with the Cape Capensis Bees, respecting their natural rhythms and ensuring they flourish in their environment. We only harvest what they produce once it is no longer needed by them, preserving the balance between nature and our craft.
Research is ongoing to uncover why Fynbos propolis, collected by our Cape Capensis Bee, stands apart from other propolis, with its distinctive composition and potentially enhanced antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory qualities.
